K’ Road Heritage Walk – Tragedy, Heroism & Heritage Roses

Sun 27 Sept 1pm – Cemetery Walk

A free two hour tour of the Symonds Street Cemetery. Here are buried many of the people who shaped early Auckland and New Zealand including Governor Hobson, Baron De Thierry, David Nathan, Annie Jane Schnackenberg and Edward Costley. This walk includes topics such as Religion, Hygiene and Town Planning during the 19th century, the design and ornamentation of gravestones and the Victorian Death Culture.

Bookings are required. This walk is weather dependent. The route includes stairs and unpathed area – sensible shoes are essential.
